My name is Bridget Steed and I am an intermodal artist and Expressive Arts Therapist currently living in Latin America. In my visual art, I primarily use acrylics but also incorporate watercolor, oil pastel, colored-pencil, collage, nature-based materials, and printmaking into my work. I create intuitively and use many layers to create vibrant worlds reflective of my inner and outer landscapes. I allow many modalities to influence and shape my art, often interweaving movement with writing and visual art. I receive constant inspiration from music, dance, nature, and the “great unknown”.

I am a licensed therapist and believe in the healing power of creative self-expression. Incorporating visual art, music, dance, song, drama, and writing into work with clients is incredibly useful in helping to foster self-expression, connection, purpose, and self-esteem. I obtained a dual Master’s Degree in Art Therapy & Counseling from Southwestern College—a small, consciousness-centered school in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There, I learned that art does not need to be pretty, it just needs to be authentic.

My intention when I create is to throw out a little lifeline for connection in hopes that it resonates with someone in some way. My post-graduate training was through the late Dr. Natalie Rogers’ Person-Centered Expressive Arts Institute’s (PCEAI) program in Sonoma, California. This humanistic training helped me release the need and desire for perfection and, instead, to simply allow whatever wants to be created to come through—messy, confusing, and aesthetically chaotic as it sometimes is. I try and release any “rules” and expectations about what art should look like and embrace the art itself as its own entity, deserving of trust and possessing its own voice.

I have been living in Mexico since early 2022 and continue to soak in and deeply appreciate this vibrant culture. Above all, I believe that creative expression is one of the most beautiful ways of healing the mind, body, and spirit and allowing oneself to be seen in the world.

Thank you for stopping by!

Welcome!
